IPHC-E Resource Center

IPHC-E Resource Center is a unique source of information and knowledge hub on primary health care/ covering themes such as community health, public health, global health and related disciplines. Our wide range of resources include government documentation, IPHC-E documents, books and open access electronic content.

The specialized webpages of the Resource Center provide an interface for accessing existing information and knowledge from around the world. The Resource Center serves a diverse range of users, including IPHC-E trainees, trainers, health program designers, health implementers, policymakers, academia, researchers and anyone interested in primary health care.

Objectives
The objectives of the Resource Center are to systematically collect, archive and disseminate information and knowledge on primary health care. By doing so, the Center aims to:
  • Serve as knowledge hub for primary health care
  • Increase the knowledge base of users
  • Facilitate information and knowledge exchange through promoting collaboration
  • Build the capacity of partner institutions
Services

The Resource Center provides a comprehensive collection of resources, in electronic and hard copy formats. The electronic resources include directories of online Journals, databases, health organization, eLearning resources, reference materials, and much more. The hard copy materials consist of a collection of books, journals and other printed materials. This extensive collection is designed to meet the diverse needs of users, providing access to a wide range of information and knowledge.

Books

There are a range of print books,  e-books and e-book chapters available in the area of primary health care and related thematic areas. The subjects cataloged by the Resource Center are listed in the library webpage under ‘Main subjects in primary health care’. For more detailed topics under each main subject area, please refer to the ‘Subsidiary subjects in primary health care’.

Journals

The collections include a selection of hard copy Journals  in medical and health sciences from Ethiopia. If you are looking for more, you can visit the eJournals  webpage, which features a wide range of Ethiopian, African and international journals. Further, selected online journal articles relevant to primary health are curated, making them easily accessible to users.

Reference materials

The Repository has a collection of resources from our partners, including Ethiopian Ministry of Health and government organizations under the Ministry. It also includes IPHC-E documents and selected theses and dissertations from universities. Policies and guidelines

The IPHC-E Resource Center is committed to maintaining high standards and ensuring the efficient use of its resources. To achieve this, we have developed a set of policies and guidelines that govern our operations and interactions with users.

The IPHC-E Resource Center follows the ‘Open Access’ movement, providing access to strategies, guidelines, reports, presentations, conference/workshop proceedings, research papers and unpublished work from IPHC-E and partner organizations. Materials are provided “as is” and the Resource Center does not make any warranties or representations as to the accuracy or completeness. Permitted use: You are permitted to read, download and print for non-commercial purposes and for any other lawful non commercial purpose. You must give appropriate credit to the attribution parties.

Policies and agreement: The Resource Center has developed policies and guidelines to ensure the integrity, accessibility, and usability of the resources in our care. Some of the key policies and guidelines include:

 

Complaints: If you have a complaint about the inclusion of an item in the Resource Center, please submit your concern in writing to resourcecenter@iphce.org Include your full contact details, the bibliographic details of the item and the reason for the complaint.

The Resource Center aims to foster connections between libraries and resource centers with similar objectives to enhance user access to resources through links to other organizations. We have developed policies to facilitate information exchange and resource sharing:

Online access: The IPHC-E Resource Center is accessible to anyone via the Internet, 24/7.

Walk-in Service: The Resource Center is located at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s National Training Center and offers a walk-in service for the public on weekdays:

     – Mornings:  9:00 am – 12:00 pm

     – Afternoons: 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join our community:  We invite you to become a member of the IPHC-E Resource Center and receive the latest information and updates on primary health care developments.  

How to apply:  To become a member, simply fill out our registration/application form and submit it to us. We will be in touch with you.

Loans: The Resource Center offers book loans to its members, including staff, trainers, trainees, and Resource Center members. The loan period is two weeks, and the following fines will be charged for overdue materials:

– ETB 1.00 per day for up to one week

– ETB 2.00 per day for up to two weeks

– ETB 3.00 per day for three weeks or more

Please note that reference materials cannot be removed from the Resource Center.

Renewals: For times required beyond the normal loan period, renewal is possible provided another user has not reserved the material in advance. Renewal may be arranged via the Integrated Library Management System or through the Catalog system.

Members are responsible for paying for resources lost or damaged while in their possession. If you have lost or damaged a resource, please contact us at resourcecenter@iphce.org for more information.
